Dalworthington Gardens utilizes the Department of Public Safety (DPS) concept, which differs from the traditional police agencies. This means that our personnel are cross-trained, and certified in any combination of the police, fire, EMS field. In fact, many of our personnel are certified in all three fields. Our police vehicles are equipped with fire fighting supplies, medical supplies, and essential police equipment necessary to provide superior service to our community.

Our DPS contains many specialized units to serve the citizens of Dalworthington Gardens. These include Tactical Operations, Motorcycle Units, Bicycle Units, Fatality Accident Investigators, Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention Units, D.A.R.E, Arson Investigations, and Emergency Medical Technicians (Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic levels).

We are one of the few agencies that carry the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in our vehicles. In fact, we are the first law enforcement agency in Texas to carry the AED.. American Heart Association research has shown that early defibrillation greatly increases the survival chances in a heart attack.

We offer many valuable services free to you!

We are also very active in promoting the spirit of volunteerism. Our volunteers are professionals who donate their time as police officer, fire fighters, EMS personnel, Communications Staff and more. We value our volunteers greatly and are always excited to gain any new volunteers that wish to join our staff.

For youngsters interested in a career in the DPS field, we officer both Police and Fire Explorer programs. Both of these programs are exciting , challenging, and quite rewarding!
